10.4.25 Project Update: Mariner Notice
Please observe the below to keep everyone safe!!
PER THE MASHPEE HARBORMASTER, THE ENTIRE OUTER CHANNEL IS A ‘NO WAKE ZONE’
Dredging continued this week with both the Sand Shifter and the Cod Fish II dredging in two different sections in the channel. Dredging will continue Saturday (10/4) and again on Monday (10/6), continuing as conditions permit.
The area highlighted below and marked as ‘Restricted Area’ should be avoided as there will be submerged dredge pipe and cables/anchors throughout this area. The pipe will be marked with yellow/orange poly balls. The submerged dredge pipe can be as high as 20” from the bottom.
Stay to the east of the channel when departing Popponesset Bay or entering the channel from the south. Please use VHF Ch. 18 to arrange for passage when the dredges are operating.
Note the following: Dredging will take place Monday through Saturday from 0700 to 1700 when sea conditions allow. The dredges will remain on station in the channel and will have anchor lights at night as well as lighted decks.
